José Manuel Pereyra, known professionally as Manu Pereyra, is a singer-songwriter born in Cordoba, Argentina, on June 22, 1977.
At the early age of 10 years, he began his carrier into music in the San Francisco de Asís Choir. By 1988, an 11-year-old Manu was one of the finalists in the Festilindo contest with the song Los niños por la paz.
His professional training in singing began under the guidance of teachers Gramatula Jouvardas and Alfredo Jaime. Likewise, he studied Harmony and Composition under Juan Carlos Cialella.
In 1999, Manu recorded his first musical production in Los Angeles under the direction of Paul McKenna. Shortly after, his single Abrázame managed to reach the first positions among the top-ten of the main national radio stations.
At the beginning of 2002, Manu traveled to Mexico City where he directed the album El milagro del Tepeyac, which was recorded especially for the last visit of Pope John Paul II to the country.
Alongside acclaimed actors such as Olivia Bucio, Alejandro Tomassi and Manuel Landeta, he performed in the musical Mi bella dama, for which he was awarded with the Quetzal Prize for Theater Revelation thanks to his role as Freddy. For Disney, Manu played the leading role in the play 100 Years of Dreams and also in the musicals El mundo de Humberto el elefante and El diluvio que viene, on which he alternated performances with Jaime Camil and Ernesto D'Alessio.
Between 2009 and 2011, he participated as vocal coach for the reality TV shows La Academia USA, High School Musical (Mexico) and La Academia: última generación.
Pereyra has collaborated with renowned composers and producers such as Juan Carlos Calderón and Aureo Baqueiro as vocal director.
By mid-2011, he released his second album, on which he included songs written by Luis Fonsi and Claudia Brant.
Along with Gloria Aura, Manu composed the single Con la luz de tu amor, which stood out in the top-ten lists of several Mexican radio stations. This single was part of his self-titled album that featured artists such as Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, Luis Conte on percussion, Ramón Stagnaro on the flamenco guitar, Leyla Hoyle on choirs, Michael Thompson on the electric guitar and even the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2017 he composed and produced his EP 7 and the New Age album Budha Azul.
By the first quarter of 2018, his most recent single Mi historia exceeded one million views on YouTube.
Currently, the renowned French luxury fashion and perfume house, Givenchy, has not only chosen Manu Pereyra to be its brand ambassador in Mexico, but also his song Cuchi Cuchi is featured as the main song of their Grooming Advisor campaign.
